How to achieve the highest possible level in study and sports.
Ambition:
After a strong freshman year at Lewis University, where River excelled both athletically and academically (GPA 3.81), he has decided too continue his career at the University of Tampa (UTampa), a top university with a strong swimming program.
Although, he has since been admitted to the Men’s swimming team and has received the maximum academic scholarship, due to unforeseen circumstances he could only enter the transfer process after the NCAA championships.
This ‘late joining’ meant that no athletic scholarship were available. This leaves a significant financial ‘gap’ of approximately € 40.000 for the coming academic year. To continue his dream as a student and top athlete, River is therefore looking for sponsors who want to support his unique journey.
The University of Tampa (UTampa) located in the heart of Florida, is known as a vibrant, private university with a strong focus on academic excellence and high performance. The university boasts more than 10.000 students from over 130 countries and a stimulating environment where elite sports and study go hand in hand.
UTampa’s swimming program is among the top in NCAA DIV II, and UTampa won the Men’s national championship in the season 2023-2024. This season (2025-2026), River will have the opportunity to develop its full potential on several fronts, provided the necessary funding becomes available.

Why invest in me?
What do you get back?
As a young athlete, I’m incredible proud of my sponsors. Thanks to them, I can pursue my goals and write me success stories together.
“I am extremely motivated to get the best out of myself - in the pool and in the lecture hall. Your support literally helps me to keep pursuing my dream and I’d love to show what we can achieve together!”
RIVER STREEFLAND
On August 16, 2025, I left the Netherlands with two suitcases (full of clothes and swim gear) headed to the University of Tampa (UTampa) to start may second year of computer science and be part of the Men’s Swimming Team. In the coming period, I will share my adventures with you in the blogs on this website.
After the first few weeks of adjusting, training, and studying, it’s time to show what all that hard training has led to this coming weekend when out first competitive match (home) takes place against Florida Southern university. I don’t know yet which disciplines and distances I’ll be swimming, but I might post a short report on the website after the match.
